 The second day of VMware Explore 2023 kicked off with an energizing breakfast alongside my fellow Dallas/Fort Worth VMUG Leaders before heading to the main stage. As you might know, one of the highlights of attending VMware Explore is the sense of community and the chance to connect with fellow peers. These individuals are truly remarkable—a passionate group who share a deep appreciation for VMware and all things tech.  Today, was all about the main stage, where an exciting general session took place to a packed house. Attendees got to hear from key players who are shaping the future of enterprise tech innovation. Raghu Raghuram, the CEO of VMware, Sumit Dhawan, the President, Amanda Blevins, the VP and CTO AMER, along with other speakers, dived into how VMware and its partners are helping companies build, train, and run AI models.
Raghu Raghuram began by stepping onto the stage and discussing the profound impact that VMware has had on the industry throughout the last 25 years, culminating in the recent acquisition with Broadcom. According to Raghu, this event stands out as one of the most notable milestones. The question arises: What implications does this hold for VMware and its future?  Hock Tan, President & CEO of Broadcom, addressed this transformation. He initiated his discussion by highlighting how the merging of these two industry giants will foster healthy competition. This alignment will further propel the vision of enabling workloads to function seamlessly across any cloud, a concept championed by VMware. Tan noted that upon the completion of this acquisition, Broadcom will dedicate itself to enhancing VMware's products and services. This commitment involves an additional annual investment of $2 billion, with half of this sum allocated to research and development. The remaining half will be channeled towards partner professional services and solutions offered by VMware. This expanded investment in the partner ecosystem aims to support their growth in the realm of VMware-related ventures.

Spring, a steadfast companion throughout this odyssey, has stood unwavering. Delving further, they plunged into Spring's contemporary capabilities that empower the VMware developer community to swiftly transition from code creation to production deployment. This is facilitated by its robust support for modern application architectures, designed to seamlessly operate across diverse cloud environments. Apart from the technical sessions, a variety of networking occasions were organized, offering attendees the chance to connect with VMware executives and partners. These gatherings presented valuable opportunities for participants to delve into the latest trends within the IT industry and discover how VMware's expertise can contribute to their success. The HUB & Hands-On LabsToday marks the inauguration of The HUB, featuring numerous fantastic central spaces designed for attendees to unwind, rejuvenate, connect, and gain knowledge. To get this certification, candidates must create and defend their design for a large enterprise VMware solution to a panel of experts. This makes it a very challenging certification to achieve. For Sean, this was more than a certification - it was a quest that challenged his technical prowess and conceptual understanding, pushing him to go beyond the limits of what he thought was possible.
During his journey towards this esteemed credential, he dove deep into the VMware community, leveraging the collective wisdom and shared experiences to hone his skills and understanding. Attending events like VMUG and VMworld, he had the opportunity to connect with industry stalwarts and likeminded peers, establishing friendships and networks that would prove invaluable throughout his career. It was the rich community and the exposure gained from blogging, his involvement with the VMware User Group (VMUG), and his transformative VMworld experience in 2013 that accelerated his career trajectory. One company that stands at the forefront of this transformative movement is VMware, with its groundbreaking multi-cloud journey. The journey has been powered by products like VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS), which is emerging as a major disruptor in the industry today. In the past, disruptive innovation has brought about significant changes in various industries. For example, consider the impact of Uber on the traditional taxi service in San Francisco. By introducing a new application-based approach to ride-hailing, Uber gradually moved upmarket, displacing established taxi services like Yellow Cab. Similarly, Netflix revolutionized the movie rental industry by disrupting Blockbuster with its digital streaming and rental-by-mail services.  Fast forward to the technology industry, and we find VMware leading the charge with disruptive innovations like vSphere and SDDC. These solutions changed the landscape of computing forever by virtualizing essential resources like CPUs and memory. As vSphere gained traction, it became the most popular infrastructure management API in use today, disrupting the traditional data center approach.
However, VMware did not stop there. Recognizing the challenges faced by organizations in managing multiple cloud environments independently, VMware embraced the multi-cloud approach. The introduction of VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS) was a pivotal moment in this journey. It brought together the power of VMware's virtualization expertise with the flexibility and scalability of AWS's cloud infrastructure.
