"Mindset" by Carol S. Dweck Ph.D. is a book that has the potential to change the way we think about ourselves and our abilities. Dweck's research and insights into the concept of mindset - the set of beliefs and assumptions that shape our behavior, goals, and ultimately our success or failure - are both insightful and thought-provoking.
At the core of the book is the idea that there are two types of mindset: fixed and growth. Those with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities and intelligence are fixed traits that cannot be changed or improved upon. This type of mindset often leads to a fear of failure, a lack of willingness to take on challenges, and a tendency to shy away from risks. On the other hand, those with a growth mindset believe that their abilities and intelligence can be developed through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn from mistakes. This mindset often leads to a love of challenges, a desire to learn and grow, and a resilience in the face of setbacks. Throughout the book, Dweck provides numerous examples and case studies to illustrate the differences between these two mindsets and the impact they have on our lives. She also offers practical advice for cultivating a growth mindset in oneself or others, whether it be in the areas of academics, sports, or business. What sets "Mindset" apart is its accessibility and engaging style. Dweck uses clear and concise language, making it easy for readers to understand the concepts being presented. The book is well-structured, with each chapter building upon the previous one to create a cohesive and compelling narrative. Furthermore, the numerous real-world examples and practical advice make it easy to apply the concepts to one's own life. Cloud computing is the most significant technology development of our lifetimes. It has made countless new businesses possible and presents a massive opportunity for large enterprises to innovate like startups and retire decades of technical debt. But making the most of the cloud requires much more from enterprises than just a technology change.
Orban's book is the first time I've seen this much information on cloud in a book. This helps to answer a lot of the questions and concerns with adopting and implementing cloud IT. The author made the wise decision to develop short chapters packed with information, so it's easy to absorb a few pages at a time. I highly recommend this book for anyone on the journey to cloud IT. I recently finished this book and I think it's a great to study NSX and to learn about the solution including how to deploy the various pieces. I'd recommend combining this reading with the NSX Design Guide (as mentioned in the "additional resources" section at the end of the book) to complete the full picture on NSX.
